06 August 2024

Guide to choose shapes, colors and materials; and upgrade design and functionality.

The perfect EPS skirting board for each project

It combines perfectly with wooden floors, ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, in addition to MDF laminated and PVC floors.  They are a functional piece to protect the walls from floor cleaning and a solution that also generates additional design and sophistication. A room with skirting boards takes performance and design up a notch.

For years, Atrim has been expanding its proposal in terms of design, color, shapes and sizes. There are classic and premium skirting boards, other more simple and modern ones, some go absolutely unnoticed while other stand out for their color or design, in tune with international trends. They come in matte black, mink or different shades of wood, which blend in with the floors or walls.

However, a major issue is:  how to choose them?
In order to choose the ideal skirting board, one must take into account the design and architectural style of the space, its proportions and the furniture of the interior design project, as well as the predominant colors of the place and its functionality

Some keys to make the decision

1. The design:
The first step is to understand the architecture of the place.  There are skirting boards that are taller and with low relief, and other shorter and plain ones with simple lines.
As a general guideline, a taller skirting board with low relief will work best in a wide room with moldings or a vintage style with personality. Whereas a simpler and straight one will stand out in a minimalist environment with pure lines.
An important fact: there are also models designed specifically to be applied over previous skirting boards so as to remodel without the need to remove them.  Ideal to simplify the construction process in a renovation.

2. The materials:
In addition to the stainless steel and aluminum skirting boards, there are other recycled ones, made of EPS, that have many advantages.

The practicality of steel and aluminum
The aluminum and steel skirting boards are perfect for minimalist spaces with high traffic, such as offices or public places.  They are installed with silicone adhesive or contact cement.  Metal combines perfectly with cement, porcelain tile and screed floors that require high performance in cleaning and traffic.

The SLIM model, made of steel, comes in matte chrome o polished stainless-steel shades, for example.

Benefits of the EPS
It is a product developed in Recycled Expanded Polystyrene made through an innovative process that transforms polystyrene residues (styrofoam) into high-resistance skirting boards. Some of its most outstanding qualities are:

●      It is a totally eco-friendly product.
●      Anti-insects
●      Anti-damp and anti-mold.
●      100% impermeable.
●      Highly resistant to scratches.
●      Very easy to maintain.
●      Maintains color better over time.
●      It protects against dirt, dust and other external agents that can cause premature deterioration.
●      It is 100% recycled and recyclable.

3 The range of colors and shapes
According to the trends expressed by the major international design fairs, colors are gaining ground in rooms, whether in vibrant shades such as green, coral and bright blue, or in neutral shades that replicate noble materials, such as marble and stone. In this trend, the mink, sand, gray and black shades emerge as the axis and they are shades that can be replicated in the skirting board.
